We are, of course, Health Authority registered and we use clean, sterile
equipment and new, sterile needles
for every customer. I am an ex-hygiene inspector so
you are in safe hands - I take hygiene VERY seriously, as do the guys from
Painless Chris who shape my studio premises. I will happily demonstrate
our hygiene procedures if
you have any concerns.
Although the chances of any customer carrying pathogens
is very small, we follow strict rules to ensure that no matter how small the
risk, there is no chance of a problem.
These rules include:
 | Needles - we use single-use needles that are disposed of after
every customer. Prior to use all new needles have been sterilised in
approved autoclaves which are tested to ensure they reach the correct time
and temperature to kill any microbes which might be present. After
use needles are disposed of in yellow sharps containers and taken away by
our clinical waste contractor. |
 | Tips & Grips - the needle sits within tips which are heavy duty
metallic. Like surgical instruments in an operating theatre, they are
cleaned in an ultrasonic bath after use to move all traces of ink.
They are then rinsed and sterilised in our approved autoclave and stored under
hygienic conditions ready for use. |
 | Ancillary equipment - the machines, trigger bottles and other
equipment which are handled by the tattooist during a tattoo are all
covered in plastic to ensure that contamination cannot be passed between
customers. The plastic covers are changed between each customer.
This is a fundamental basic of tattoo hygiene but you'd be surprised how
many studios do not follow this protocol. |
 | Sterile chain of events - as well as ensuring our tattoo
equipment is clean and sterile, we ensure that there are no other
opportunities for contamination. For instance, we do not
answer the phone with contaminated gloves on. |
 | Our artists - all three of our artists have been Hepatitis
vaccinated and are fully trained in hygienic procedures. |
 | Our premises - we have invested a good deal of time and money
ensuring our premises are designed to be cleanable, including industrial
hygienic flooring and wipe-clean surfaces throughout. |
 | Your comfort -
we take time and care to ensure you are comfortable before
we start any tattoo. If you're nervous, please tell us and we can
reassure you (though there is REALLY no need to be - it's easy!). I
am also trained in Basic Life support so that if the worst did occur,
we can administer first aid. Our premises are also opposite a health
centre - though we haven't needed their assistance in the 6 years we've
been here! |
